ABOUT THE OWNERS:
Jen Winter – Former JPL/NASA Solar System Ambassador, Astrophotographer and Eclipse Expedition Leader, Jen Winter has been observing and imaging with Daystar Hydrogen Alpha Filters since 1998 together with her late husband, Vic Winter. The two purchased Daystar from former owner, Del Woods in 2006. Vic died in 2007, leaving Jen to carry the torch thereafter.

Jen has organized 26 International Eclipse Expeditions from Antarctica to Mongolia putting over 2000 chasers into totality. She witnessed 12 totals and 2 annulars. She led 14 Southern Skies Star Party expeditions to Lake Titicaca Bolivia at 12,500 ft of altitude. She flew in Zero-G at Space City in Moscow, discovered a meteorite while in the Tenere’ desert. As founder of the 501(c)(3) StarGarden Foundation, David Levy named an asteroid after her and Vic for their work in Astronomical Outreach. She was editor of the Astronomical League Reflector and is the first ever winner of the “Astro Oscar” award.

*Jen also keeps a herd of Highland cattle on her 35 acre ranch.

Jen oversees all optical lens, flat and mirror fabrication. She performs all optical coatings, including all etalon crystal coatings. Jen performs all PE grade assembly and testing; and personally performs final live sun tests on every single Daystar ever built or repaired since 2006. Jen handles all custom, research, space and defense industry work.

Fred Bruenjes – Electrical Engineer formerly working in PCB design in the telecom industry, Fred has been observing since Halley’s Comet in 1986. Founder of Moonglow Technologies, Fred has been designing and building astronomy and test equipment since 1999. Also an avid eclipse chaser, Fred wrote the Eclipse Orchestrator camera control software and produced the first consumer AllSkyCam. In 2012 he discovered Comet C/2012 C2 (Bruenjes). Fred is currently finishing his 74″ f/2 mirror to build what will be the largest amateur owned telescope in the world.

Fred moved to Warrensburg and became a partial owner in 2012.
He is the company’s chief engineer. He designs all lens prescriptions, test equipment and electronic circuits and PCB boards. Fred designs and builds all new test equipment and writes machine and process software for operations in all departments. Fred does design, CAD/CAM and oversees all machining operations.
